The Martinez City Council will be considering a land use change on Wednesday April 19, 2017. Under consideration are two proposals to allow residential development on half the property. The Martinez Staff recommends that no development be allowed, but our Council has ignored staff reports earlier. Links to some relevant information is on the left.

Here's some background information:
- This land was declared permanent open space as a mitigation to a large development in the Center/Morello area in the late 70’s.
- This is one of several similar parcels that was determined to be best used as permanent open space to retain a rural feel in the area.
- This open space is along Vine Hill Way & is on one of the most scenic routes in the area.
- In 2008 the Martinez Planning Commission, City Manager and City Attorney recommended that the City Council deny this request for a General Plan Amendment.
